What Expenses Will Someone Have To Pay If They Build A New House On Family Land?

If my mother in law purchases a house with 2 acres and we wanted to build our own custom home on her land, what all do we have to pay besides the home builder?

    Nothing. The only thing that I would think you would want to pay for would be taxes on the property….your home built on her acerage will make her taxes go up. The amount she would have extra to pay would depend on the city or county, and would also depend on the square footage, and such of the newly built structure.
