Purchased new construction and was billed a lot premium. Was told it was due to the conservation pond along the back of my lot which classifies it as a “water” view. I was told I can only place a 4 foot fence on my property. Upon ordering a fence, we found out from the construction supervisor that the “water” view is actually the drainage easement and as such I can go with a 6ft fence. Because this is not a conservation pond and never was. Do I have any recourse? Am I able to get my lot premium returned. Home is 6 months old.

I am a construction insurance agent. I am looking for sources of construction accounting data. Specifically: Benchmarking / Ratios. More Specifically – Builders (Residential) and other General Contractors – Industry Standards – Benchmark Percentages – Insurance (non health) Expense as a Percentage of Sales / Gross Receipts.
It will have to be data divided into regions (within the US) and divided by size brackets – e.g. $ 50-100 million annual sales.

I purchased a home pre-construction 2.5 years ago and was charged a hefty premium for my “so-called” premium lot. (It overlooked a park on the property of a VA Hospital). Now that park has turned into a dumping ground for the hospital. Just a few yards from my back door are huge piles of dirt, construction equipment, and tractor trailers. How much was the builder supposed to disclose to me when selling me the lot? Are they required to find out if the view from the lot will remain the same?
