I wanted to complete the ground floor initially and then take up the first floor construction after calculating the finances available with me. My builder says that this could cause problems. He said that after completing plastering of the ground floor, if we take up construction of first floor house, the roof plaster in the ground floor ceiling could crack / peel off due the loads on it.
Is there any solution to avoid taking up both houses construction simultaneously
Can a bank finance a home loan more than what it appraises for? meaning the actual cost to build the house?

If i have a contractor build a house, and it costa $300K to build. But the bank comes and has it appraised for $260K because of the area and the current market, is there a way or a bank that will approve and give a loan for the actual $300K that the custom home is built for and not the low $260K?

Why are their different ceiling heights in my house?

My house was built in 1989, it’s a single-story home with 1900 square feet.
In my home there are different ceiling heights: In the entry the ceiling is about 15 feet, in the living room the ceiling is vaulted from 9 ft. to 15 ft., in the dining room it’s flat and 12ft., in the kitchen and in all the bedrooms it’s 9ft. and in the hallway it it 12 ft. So what’s the deal with so many different heights? I love the way it looks, but I never see anyone else’s house like this, everyone that comes over adores the ceiling. wouldn’t this be a lot more work on the home builder’s part? So is your house like this, have you ever seen this before?
(BTW this is not a ‘rich’ house it’s just a regualr residential home.)
All the houses in my neighborhood seem to be this way too.

Lets say i have a few acres of land and i go to sutherlands and buy a 45,000 house package that includes all the interier and exterior supplies needed to build this home. How much would i expect to pay a licensed builder to come out and build it for me? An average 3 bedroom with office and 1 car garage. No basement,just on cement foundation. What is the range in price a contracter or builder would charge,anyone?

Say I remodel my house, end up with 30k in equity, and take out a home equity loan for that amount. Can I turn around and use that 30k as a down payment on another property?
Edit: The new property would be used to renovate/flip and sell.
Can home builder be sued for installing drain tiles incorrectly in 40-yr old house?

Contractor just did drain tile test; found drain tiles were placed above the footings and we now have severe foundation trouble. Contractor said he could not imagine how house passed initial inspection. This happened 40 years ago. Can we get satisfaction from the builder? We are the second owners.

My husband and I are “first time home buyers” and we are looking into buying our first home at a local auction (the homes have been foreclosed and will now be auctioned off). At the auction, would we need to;
A: just have this money laying around in order to buy the house, or;
B: would we be able to be get a home loan / mortgage prior to the auction?
