We are trying to buy our first home, and now before we even know if we will get financed, they want us to BUY home owner’s insurance? How? Why? Wouldn’t that be done once we buy the house? Especially if it’s escrowed in to our monthly payments?
I’m running telephone lines in my new house using CAT5e cable. I have RJ45 keystone jacks in each room for the telephone. What do I terminate the other end to so I can connect all the telephone wires together? Something like a punch-down block? Please give example of what I could use to connect them (like a model of a block I could use). Please don’t say wire-nut the wires together, I want something neater than that, more professional looking.
Is a terminal block the right way to terminate CAT5 though? I know they used them in old 4 conductor phone wire, but what about 4 pair twisted pair wire?

I’m interested in a house, but my parents are leary of it because it’s been built with brick around it. They say they think it might be hiding problems with the house. It seems like the brick work is recent because the front porch and garage are bricked in, and the realator said the porch and garage weren’t included in the square footage because heat/air wasn’t run to them. Also the bricks just look new. What could be hidden, and would you invest in a home like this?
Other problems include:
Foundation problems. Im not too woried about this because my brother is General manager of a foundation repair company.
Roof will need to be replaced.

Last November 2006 I signed an agreement with a home builder to build a house for me and my family in Laurel, MD
As part of the agreement, I deposited $25,000 for the home + another $10,000 for options. The contract stated that the home was to be ready by May 2007.
- In April, they told me it will be ready June
- In June they told me late July or early August
- Now they are telling me, they don’t know when it will be ready … that maybe the second quarter of next year.
They are still building the first house and they say it is the model and until they finish that one before they can start any other house.
My question is: Can he legally keep my deposit?
P/S: There is no clause that says he can keep my deposit. I have ready over the agreement several times and there is nothing.
I am supposed to be out of my condo by December, and I have a 6 month old son and a wife (who is still in college).
It took me over siz years to save this money…. Any good lawyers out there?
I did everything they asked for, the deposits, the loan approvals etc.
Now they are telling me I will have to forfeit my deposits.
The State is Maryland.
Laurel is the city in PG (Prince George’s) County

Getting ready to build a new home. Have hired an architect to draw the plans for us. We know that the house is going to be a 2-story “farmhouse” as it is being built on quite a bit of land. We have 2 small children under the age of 7. We built the home that we currently live in now without much thought and research and I hate it. It id definitely NOT kid-friendly. I want to really RESEARCH this home before we have our second meeting with architect, so I am asking this question again. IS there anything that anyone has in their house that they love, that they hate, AND is there anyting that we should consider or building specifications that we should use in construction our new home. I want to have EVERYTHING in order before we break ground! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
