I would like an answer from a lawyer, not opinions?

08 May

I live in a “New” Development – first home went up around 1998.
Currently there are 145 homeowners and the builder/developer (one and the same) has only 15 lots left to build on.

The Builder/Developer is the sole person to run our Assoication. It does state in our Covenants that he will not turn the Association over to the homeowners until he is all built out.

Even though that is in the Covenants, is there anything, we the homeowners, can do to force him to turn it over to the homeowners sooner?

Do we have any rights at all here?

Someone who is able to give a definite answer: Do we owe them for the “plans”?

04 Apr

We are in the process of building a custom home. We came up with the design of the house ourselves (my husband is a Structural Engineer). Anyway, we were initially going to go with a particular builder who said they could do it for XX dollars. We gave them our design, they gave it to their architect to draw up. He did. Long story short, we have decided NOT to go with this builder because in the three months that we have been dealing with them, their price has continually changed (ie: price per square foot went up $47!!). Each visit, they tell us something different. They are now trying to tell us we owe them $4600 for the plans (it was initally $2500). We do not have a contract with them. Do we owe them for the plans?

If you know anything about interior design, please answer this question ?

31 Mar

I want to go into interior design. I take art classes and drawing is one of my talents.

I have a friend who also wants to go into interior design. She doesn’t admit it, but she knows she can’t draw to save her life. She tells me that you don’t need to draw well to be an interior designer.

I am starting to think that I’m wasting my parent’s money and my time in taking art classes when I don’t even need it.

So, my question is – do I need to draw well to be a successful interior designer?
